Description

A Fire Watcher plays a critical role in maintaining fire safety on construction sites, industrial plants, and maintenance projects. This position is responsible for monitoring work areas where hot work activities such as welding, cutting, grinding, and other spark-producing tasks are performed. The main purpose of a Fire Watcher is to prevent fires before they start by identifying hazards, controlling ignition sources, and responding quickly in case of emergency. Fire Watchers are an essential part of any safety system, especially in high-risk environments such as oil and gas facilities, petrochemical plants, refineries, and large construction projects. Their presence helps protect workers, equipment, and property while ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

Fire Watchers continuously observe hot work areas to ensure that sparks, flames, and heat do not ignite flammable materials. They check that fire extinguishers and firefighting equipment are available, charged, and accessible before work begins. Removing combustible materials from the work zone and ensuring proper barricading and signage are also part of their duties. During operations, Fire Watchers remain alert at all times and are prepared to take immediate action in case of smoke, fire, or unsafe conditions. They report hazards to supervisors and safety officers and may stop work if serious risks are identified. After completion of hot work, Fire Watchers continue monitoring the area for a specified period to ensure no hidden sparks or smoldering materials remain.

Skills and Knowledge

A Fire Watcher must have a strong understanding of fire hazards, prevention techniques, and basic firefighting methods. Knowledge of different types of fire extinguishers and their proper use is essential. Candidates should be physically fit, attentive, and able to remain focused for long periods. Good communication skills are important for coordinating with welders, supervisors, and safety personnel. Experience in industrial or construction environments is preferred, as it helps Fire Watchers recognize common hazards quickly. The ability to follow safety procedures strictly and respond calmly during emergencies is critical. Basic training in fire safety and first aid is an advantage and improves overall effectiveness in this role.

This urgent requirement is for Fire Watcher positions in Jubail. A total of 50 Fire Watchers are needed. The offered rate is 11 SAR per hour. FAT (Food, Accommodation, and Transportation) will be provided by the company. Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of experience.
